University-Enterprise Collaboration Drives Quality & Efficiency: Company Successfully Completes Internal Acceptance of “Unveiling the List and Assuming Command” Project

December 25, 2023 – The “Stainless Steel Pipe Air Tightness Testing Intelligentization and Automation Upgrade” project, part of Deyang City’s 2021 “Unveiling the List and Assuming Command” Science and Technology Program, successfully passed its internal acceptance review. This initiative was coordinated by the Deyang Zhongke Achievement Transformation Center, with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics “unveiling the list” to undertake the project. Attendees at the acceptance meeting included Mr. Li Guo, Deputy Director of the Guanghan Industrial Development Zone Management Committee; Mr. Zhang Guoqi, Senior Engineer from CAS Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics; Mr. Tao Hang, Vice President of the company; and Mr. Chen Hongtao, Deputy Director of the Deyang Zhongke Achievement Transformation Center.

At the meeting, Mr. Zhang Guoqi detailed the project’s objectives, R&D process, and completion status. This project focused on the key process of stainless steel pipeline air tightness testing, aiming to meet technical requirements such as automatic loading/unloading, automatic marking, and automatic statistical calculation of product qualification rates through machine vision systems for intelligent automatic identification.

The system includes a digital communication module, providing an interface reserved for the digital upgrade of the entire production process. Considering the complexity of the production process, the project team from the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Mechanics adapted the system to operate in three modes: Automatic Detection Mode, Manual Intervention Mode, and Manual Detection Mode, successfully fulfilling the project’s intended R&D requirements.

Focusing on scientific research and technological innovation, the project has resulted in the application for 2 invention patents, 3 utility model patents, and 1 industry standard.

Vice President Tao, representing the company, affirmed and acknowledged the project’s outcomes, announcing a satisfactory and qualified acceptance. He also expressed gratitude to the Achievement Transformation Center for facilitating the collaboration and commended the expert team from the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Mechanics for their meticulous research attitude and conscientious work ethic.

Mr. Li Guo stated that the Guanghan Industrial Development Zone Management Committee maintains its consistent approach, dedicating efforts to coordinate resources and support enterprises within the zone in achieving high-quality technological innovation and industrial upgrading.

Mr. Chen Hongtao, on behalf of the Achievement Transformation Center, congratulated both parties on the successful completion of the collaborative project. He affirmed the Center’s commitment to continue coordinating and connecting the needs of research institutes and enterprises, ensuring the refinement of project details, and playing a more active role in supporting regional industrial development in Deyang and contributing to Deyang’s construction as China’s Equipment Sci-Tech City.

Following the meeting, the acceptance panel visited the project site to inspect the completed stainless steel pipe air tightness testing and automated equipment.
