Nonleak’s air tightness testing project has passed its internal acceptance review, marking progress in stainless steel pipe inspection, quality control and intelligent manufacturing. The project focuses on improving testing efficiency and accuracy through automated equipment and machine vision.
The project, named “Stainless Steel Pipe Air Tightness Testing Intelligentization and Automation Upgrade,” is part of Deyang City’s 2021 “Unveiling the List and Assuming Command” Science and Technology Program. It was developed through university-enterprise collaboration with support from the Deyang Zhongke Achievement Transformation Center and the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Air Tightness Testing Project Review
The internal acceptance meeting took place on December 25, 2023. Representatives from the Guanghan Industrial Development Zone Management Committee, the Deyang Zhongke Achievement Transformation Center, Nonleak and the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics attended the review.
During the meeting, the project team presented the R&D objectives, development process and completion status. They also explained how the upgraded system supports stainless steel pipe inspection and automated quality control.
Automated Testing System for Stainless Steel Pipes
The upgraded system focuses on practical inspection needs in stainless steel pipe production. It supports automatic loading and unloading, automatic marking and product qualification statistics.
In addition, the system uses machine vision to support intelligent detection. This helps improve inspection consistency and reduces dependence on manual checking. As a result, the testing process becomes more efficient and easier to manage.
The system can operate in three modes: Automatic Detection Mode, Manual Intervention Mode and Manual Detection Mode. This design gives the production team flexibility during different inspection conditions.

University-Enterprise Collaboration Behind the Project
This project reflects the value of university-enterprise collaboration in manufacturing improvement. Research institutions provided technical support, while Nonleak connected the project with real production needs.
Through this cooperation, the project team improved automated testing functions and refined the equipment for practical use. The project has also led to applications for invention patents, utility model patents and an industry standard.
On-Site Inspection and Acceptance
After the meeting, the acceptance panel visited the project site to inspect the completed testing equipment. The team reviewed how the automated system works in real production conditions and how it supports stainless steel pipe air tightness testing.
The on-site review confirmed that the project met its intended R&D requirements. It also showed that automated inspection can support more stable production control and more reliable quality management.

Supporting Quality Control and Intelligent Manufacturing
For Nonleak, this project is an important step in quality control and intelligent manufacturing. Better testing automation helps improve inspection accuracy, production efficiency and product consistency.
Nonleak will continue to improve manufacturing processes, testing systems and technical cooperation. These efforts help the company provide reliable stainless steel pipes and fittings for building water supply, gas distribution and industrial piping systems.
